Mini Guide to Sotogrande (and other favourite places in the Costa del Sol, Spain)

A Mini Guide to Sotogrande

Nestled along the sun-kissed shores of the Costa del Sol, Sotogrande is a gem of a destination. Founded 60 years ago as a gated community, it offers the perfect balance between luxury and relaxation. Nice beaches, upscale amenities, and a vibrant social scene define this part of the world – which is not a real town.

Sotogrande is located under 20 minutes from he iconic Rock of Gibraltar and 30 minutes from Marbella. Whether you’re drawn to its world-class golf courses, indulgent dining options, or simply the allure of the Mediterranean, Sotogrande promises an unforgettable escape that effortlessly marries sophistication with laid-back coastal vibes. Understatement is Sotogrande’s middle name.

This is a mini guide to our favourite places around Sotogrande, covering restaurants, places to shop and different activities. Using Google Maps, I have added places we have visited repeatedly across Sotogrande, including Casares, Estepona, Tarifa, Marbella and Malaga, and I know my readers will also love it. There are plenty more places to include in a future guide to Sotogrande (and even the Costa del Sol) – so bear with me.

Summary

An obvious category is missing: accommodation. We have a place here so we haven’t really tried the local hotels (except for Finca Cortesin, which is 20 minutes away). It’s all about villas and hotels in Sotogrande and is done mostly with local agents. I will dig a bit deeper here over time as I think many readers will love to visit.
